However, I will say that I am 95 percent confident that this meme was the most successful stealth marketing campaign of 2018. Angela-the original poster-says that if this was a corporate scheme, she was not involved. If the Surprised Pikachu meme ended up getting 90 million views (which is probably a vast underestimate), that equates to $900,000 worth of publicity. Facebook advertising can cost $10 per 1,000 views. Let’s talk hypotheticals: $100,000-probably just a tiny fraction of Detective Pikachu’s marketing budget-would be enough to fund a small team to work on such a campaign for two months. It was actually an improvement: with a full palette, the darkness you expect from a good noir was more pronounced. In a move that might sound counterproductive for true noir stalwarts, the NES version of this mid-‘80s MacVenture point-and-clicker arrived in full color. Conquering England has never been this much fun.- Garrett Martin The NES port of this swashbuckling strategy game might not have looked or sounded as nice as the Amiga original, but it was actually deeper in its tactics and possibilities. In spite of or perhaps because of this unlikely premise, its legacy lives on. Its protagonists, Nana and Popo, climbed a series of ice-covered peaks to reach the top of the mountain and recover their stolen vegetables from thieving condors. Holly GreenĪs with many of the games on this list, Ice Climber hasn’t aged well, but it holds an undeniable and ironically warm spot in our hearts nonetheless. It would go on to later influence many other shooter games, the game’s unlimited ammo allowing for a satisfying break-neck pace, and its isometric perspective facilitating an appeasing field of view that would later form a primer for the 3D games to come. This Capcom classic and it’s dashing, run-and-gun style was first released in arcades in 1985 and on the Nintendo Entertainment System the following year. This game seems like it’s probably a political metaphor. Some of those enemies are…dragons? And genies? And other strong men? It’s really hard, but if you persevere you can punch a snake thing to death at the end. This game is about a Soviet strongman using his Soviet muscle to smash his way through the flesh and bones of his enemies. Find your horse, upgrade your weapon, and dodge a hailstorm of bullets and knives while tracking down the latest Wanted Poster cover model. And you’ll use ‘em, since this Western gunslinger sim is a punishing riff on the “vertical walking shooter” sub-genre. Sadly, the latter did not make it to the NES port in 1987, but Ikari Warriors was well received on home console nonetheless. It’s basically a history class in list form.– Garrett MartinĪmid a sea of Commando clones, upon its 1986 release to arcades, Ikari Warriors carved an identity of its own with a unique two player mode and the inclusion of rotary joysticks. Let’s explore that library together as we look back on the 100 best games released for the NES. That core of Nintendo classics was bolstered by reams of top-notch third-party games, from such acclaimed publishers as Konami, Capcom and Tecmo, to form perhaps the deepest roster of games ever seen on any videogame console. As a developer, Nintendo’s legacy of quality was established even before the NES was released, but it quickly grew after such games as The Legend of Zelda, Metroid and Super Mario Bros. Of course it wasn’t the hardware that made every kid want a Nintendo 35 years ago. The NES quickly became a defining part of 1980s culture, converting millions of kids into lifelong videogame fans, reestablishing the industry as a multi-billion dollar concern, and convincing some parents that every subsequent videogame system, no matter who made it, could be referred to simply as the Nintendo. They had to bundle it with a robot and a toy gun in order to get their system, which they named the Nintendo Entertainment System, on toy shelves instead of in the electronics department. It was so bad that retailers notoriously had little interest in carrying Nintendo’s new console when the Japanese company launched it in America in 1985. A glut of poorly made games for the Atari 2600 killed the marketplace as the industry lost billions in revenues in just a matter of months. After the videogame crash of 1983, the console was essentially dead, and the arcade reigned supreme. It’s not an overstatement to say that the Nintendo Entertainment System saved the entire home videogame industry. Navy still operates forty-three Los Angeles–class boats, though fourteen newer Seawolf- and Virginia-class submarines still beat out the Akula in discretion. You can check out an Office of Naval Intelligence comparison chart of submarine acoustic stealth here. However, the most important improvement was to stealth-the new Akulas were now significantly quieter than even the Improved Los Angeles–class submarines, although some analysts argue that the latter remain stealthier at higher speeds. Both variants had six additional external tubes that could launch missiles or decoy torpedoes, and a new Strela-3 surface-to-air missile system. This was followed by the heavier and slightly longer 971A Akula II class in the form of the Vepr in 1995, which featured a double-layer silencing system for the power train, dampened propulsion systems and a new sonar. However, even as the Soviet Union collapsed, it launched the first of five Project 971U Improved Akula I boats. Navy pressed ahead to build the even stealthier Seawolf-class submarine to compete. Soviet shipyards pumped out seven Akula Is while the U.S. The Akula could also carry up to twelve Granat cruise missiles capable of hitting targets on land up to three thousand kilometers away. Four 533-millimeter torpedo tubes and four large 650-millimeter tubes could deploy up to forty wire-guided torpedoes, mines, or long-range SS-N-15 Starfish and SS-N-16 Stallion antiship missiles. Navy submarines, particularly ballistic-missile submarines. The Akula I submarines-designated Shchuka (“Pike”) in Russian service-were foremost intended to hunt U.S. On the other hand, the Akula’s own sensors were believed to be inferior. American submariners could no longer take their acoustic superiority for granted. Navy, though, the Akula was nearly as stealthy as the Los Angeles class. Powered by a single 190-megawatt pressurized water nuclear reactor with a high-density core, the Akula could swim a fast thirty-three knots (thirty-eight miles per hour) and operate 480 meters deep, two hundred meters deeper than the contemporary Los Angeles–class submarine. A crew of around seventy could operate the ship for one hundred days at sea. The 111-meter-long vessel was distinguished by its elegant, aquadynamic conning tower and the teardrop-shaped pod atop the tail fin which could deploy a towed passive sonar array. Even the limber holes which allowed water to pass inside the Akula’s outer hull had retractable covers to minimize acoustic returns. The attack submarine’s propulsion plant was rafted to dampen sound, and anechoic tiles coated its outer and inner surface. The large Akula, which displaced nearly thirteen thousand tons submerged, featured a steel double hull typical to Soviet submarines, allowing the vessel to take on more ballast water and survive more damage. The new design benefited from advanced milling tools and computer controls imported from Japan and Sweden, respectively, allowing Soviet engineers to fashion quiet seven-bladed propellers. After the prolific Victor class and expensive titanium-hulled Sierra class, construction of the first Project 971 submarine, Akula (“Shark”), began in 1983. The vessel was launched on 4 September 1907.Intelligence provided by the spies John Walker and Jerry Whitworth in the 1970s convinced the Soviet Navy that it needed to seriously pursue acoustic stealth in its next attack submarine. The design was presented to the Marine technical committee in late 1905 and was ordered in 1906.Īkula was built at the Baltic shipyard in Saint Petersburg. The boat was designed by Ivan Bubnov and was an amalgam of the previous Minoga and the Kasatka-class submarine designs. Akula saw service during World War I and sank in November 1915 after hitting a naval mine. 1,900 nmi (3,500 km 2,200 mi) (surfaced)Ĥ × 18-inch (457 mm) torpedo tubes (bow) and 4 Drzewiecki drop collarsĪkula ( Russian: Акула meaning shark) was a submarine built for the Imperial Russian Navy.Russian submarine Akula, armored cruiser Rurik in the background So, please choose one of the easy method on below Method 1: Installing App Manually There are so many ways that we can do to have this app running into our Windows OS. At least I now know, thanks to this post, that you can convert to DNG to get it to work. Not entire sure how when they show photo tutorials of them opening a JPEG I'm PS, opening ACR and then right-click > "Enhance.". I was told those articles are all wrong also. I explained that articles posted by Petapixel, Fstoppers, etc ALL show them using Super Resolution on JPEGs and TIFFs straight out of PS into ACR. The chat rep told me that the KB article is wrong and the Blog post by Eric Chan is wrong. The rep tolde it only works with RAW and directed me to a KB article on Enhance Details that in the third paragraph (specific to the new Super Resolution feature in 13.2) ALSO works with JPEG, PNG, TIFF and HEIC. The Adobe Blog post by Eric Chan dated states that unlike Raw Details (that only works on RAW formats) the new Super Resolution feature also works on JPEG, TIFF, PNG and HEIC. I got into quite the spat with a chat rep about this very issue. If you want Camera Raw to not open non-raw formats by default, but override that occasionally, use the technique I showed in another post on this forum, where you use Photoshop to open a JPEG in Camera Raw (not using the Camera Raw filter).Įnhance is available for non-raw formats using either of those methods. If you want Camera Raw to always open non-raw formats, change Camera Raw preferences as shown by post by digitaldog later in this thread. Super Resolution works with non-raw formats supported by Camera Raw, so if you use one of the techniques to let Camera Raw open non-raw formats, you can run Enhance on it: The short answer is that Adobe admits it optimized and designed Super Resolution with RAW files in mind, but also trained it to deal with already rendered files, including those processed. Those restrictions don’t apply to Super Resolution feature of Enhance, which is described in the next paragraph on that page. Yes, this is kind of a subtle thing that confuses people. No, that quote is from the description of the Raw Details feature in Enhance Raw Details only works with raw files, of course. According to the documentation, " The supported file types are raw mosaic files from cameras with Bayer sensors (Canon, Nikon, Sony, and others) and Fujifilm X-Trans sensors." Unfortunately, the new Enhance feature doesn't work with jpegs. Then in Camera Raw, you should get the Enhance Ferguson wrote:.With the DNG selected, go to File > Open in Camera Raw.In the Export Progress dialog click on the exported image to navigate to it in Bridge.Thank you for your help but I think it needs some tweaking to make it a viable and interesting mechanism for pre pro for Ferguson wrote: Looking at capture one the output for raf files are tiff psd or jpeg That said not every image you are going to want to do this but it would be so much easier if you could convert the raw file in c1 first to tiff as normal and then processing and save I think it's effective but cumbersome at the moment to use effectively in a workflow This works it also stores the dng file in the capture one concession and psd Opened the he file chose an image converted to DNG AND OPENED IN CAMERA RAW I opened the file where the raw images are for a work flow in C1 I use both photoshop CCand capture one CC - both all up to dateĪnyway for information I followed your instructions So crazy that people that have no idea how the system actually works are telling people at the branches what to do. Then they have the people running the show at HQ that have never worked in the branches and have no idea how to do basic processes correctly in the system. Many employees leave with chest pains at the end of the day because there is too much work and not enough people and forget about getting overtime so you can actually complete the amount of work they expect you to. The new owners don’t pay their bills to vendors, but expect customers to pay in 30 days or less. They will tell you to be calm and be “nicer” and they will walk around cursing and saying things under their breath in front of all the employees. Since Covid hit they have cut the amount of employees in half but expect the remaining employees to do double or triple the work for less pay since they took away quarterly bonuses too.
